BIO

I am a book and editorial illustrator working in pen & ink, watercolor, gouache, Procreate, Adobe Photoshop, and porcelain lithophanes. My illustration path began unexpectedly in graduate school while studying Ceramics at the University of Montana—I started illustrating research papers for the Anthropology and Wildlife departments.  Returning to Boston, I became the staff illustrator for the New England Aquarium and went on to collaborate with art directors and designers on non-fiction children’s books, textbooks, gardening & cookbooks, and editorial illustrations for publications including The New York Times, NY Daily News, and The Boston Globe. My step-by-step instructional illustration included work for The Muppets Big Book of Crafts by Jim Henson Productions.

Alongside illustration, I’ve taught ceramics at Babson College, including students from Wellesley, and Olin Colleges. Participating in international ceramic residencies, I was lucky to travel and work among talented artists in Denmark, Hungary, Canada, and the U.S. Some of my illustrated porcelain & stoneware works—architectural ceramics, in-glaze transferware, and lithophanes—are held in the permanent collections of the Statue of Liberty Ellis Island Museum, The American Museum of Ceramic Art, The Red Star Line Museum in Belgium, The Blair Museum of Lithophanes, The International Museum of Dinnerware Design, and the Needham Historical Society.

Self-portrait

As a visual arts educator, I teach Procreate and arts & crafts workshops for children and adults. My family-friendly workshops combine music appreciation with hands-on artmaking, introducing participants to jazz and classical music as they create.

Music is central to my life and work. I am a singer soloist with the Cooper Center Music Makers, specializing in songs by George and Ira Gershwin & Irving Berlin. And, Soprano me sings with The Masterworks Chorale in Boston. You’ll often find me sketching at live concerts and operas alongside my husband. My children are pursuing wonderful careers in the culinary arts, green energy engineering, and vocal performance.
